FRESH for our Kids!

My youngest is a constant eater. So having healthy snacks on hand is a must!  Recently I had found these YUMMY bars made by Ella’s Kitchen.

bananas + raisins nibbly fingersThese 100% yummy nibbly snack bars  are packed with organic fruits, veggies + wholegrain oats that don’t contain any concentrates or refined sugars. They’re the perfect size for toddler’s hands + tummies!    Plus they have:
  • NO preservatives or thickeners
  • NO concentrates or juices
  • NO added hydrogenated fat and nothing artificial
  • JUST nibbly organic finger bars for little ones
  • Contains naturally occurring sugars

I felt confident giving these to my DD, but then it occurred to me –  Can’t I just make these at home for a fraction of the cost?

So I took the challenge and must say, DD and Myself are pleased with the results.

Oatmeal Banana Bars

1/4 cup natural applesauce
1/4 cup raisins (for younger babies I suggest chopping into smaller pieces)
1/4 tsp cinnamon
2 mashed ripe bananas (i used organic)
2 cups oatmeal
1/4 cup coconut

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mash bananas in a mixing bowl and then combine rest of the ingredients.

Press into a 9×9 pan. I lined mine with Tupperware’s Silicone Wonder Mat – though parchment paper or aluminum foil also work.
Bake for 25-30 mins then cool down and cut into 10-12 4 oz toddler sized bars.

Feel free to cut into larger 8 oz portions for older kids and adults.   ENJOY!

My bars cost $1.29 to make the WHOLE BATCH which is about (10-12) 4 oz bars.    Ella’s Kitchen is $2.89  for (5 )4 oz servings at Target.

That is $0.12 each compared to $0.58 each and they were done in the time it would have taken me to go to the store and back.
